Georgia Moors work allies technical virtuosity with intense scrutiny of her subject. Taking plucked flora from root to flower, she works with the plant for many months. Her work is more than a record of form, as through this long term engagement with her subject Georgia captures the vibrant spirit of these plants with unique skill. Working with materials such as egg tempera, graphite, chalks and watercolour, Georgia’s practice echoes the technical skill and precision of old master painters, or botanical records, yet she challenges these canons in equal measure. Her prolonged, meditative process imbues each artwork with profound emotional resonance. The fleeting qualities of nature are crystallised and elevated into a joyful celebration of the natural world.
GBS Fine Art is pleased to host the first solo show of work by Georgia Moors, which opened during Frieze Week in London at 55 Hollywood Road and now continues at our gallery in Wells, Somerset. The show includes paintings and drawings from 2017 through to 2026 and we are incredibly appreciative of the private collections that lent their works to this show.
